Oakley’s mountain manifesto: innovation, vision systems, and a dome in the Alps

Oakley has officially opened the Oakley Outpost in Livigno, unveiling a brutalist dome conceived as a bold architectural expression of the brand’s performance DNA. Launched this winter at the base of Mottolino Mountain, the space immerses visitors in four decades of innovation—from pioneering goggles to cutting-edge vision systems and Olympic collections worn by elite athletes today.

More than a traditional brand installation, the Outpost is designed as a living performance environment, where architecture, product, and athlete experience operate as one cohesive system.

A brutalist dome rooted in performance

Positioned at the base of the newly introduced Oakley Flowpark at Mottolino Snowpark, the dome stands like a futuristic bunker against the Alpine landscape. Its raw, industrial exterior contrasts with an interior that blends structural minimalism and organic flow, symbolizing the collision of past, present, and future.

Through its imposing doors, visitors enter an immersive environment housing the Oakley MUZM archive. The exhibition traces the brand’s journey from the original O-Frame goggle introduced in 1983 to today’s advanced vision systems engineered for maximum clarity and performance in extreme conditions.

Past, present, and future under one roof

Inside, the Outpost unfolds as a triptych of time. The Past is defined by the MUZM archive, highlighting the breakthrough designs that reshaped snow performance. The Present spotlights the Aura Collection and the Flow Scape goggle—featuring Oakley’s widest field of view to date, 60 percent broader than earlier models—alongside current Olympic collections and next-generation eyewear. An interactive zone, Oakley in Motion, invites guests to test the products firsthand. The Future reveals conceptual visor experiences inspired by Axiom and Future Genesis, hinting at the next evolution of performance optics.

Paired with the neighboring Flowpark—built for creativity and progression—the Outpost positions Livigno as a destination for contemporary snow culture, merging architectural impact with community-driven innovation.
