This autumn marks the arrival of Paul Smith Loves Barbour, a much-anticipated fashion collaboration between two of the most recognizable names in British fashion. Launching globally on October 1st, 2025, the 33-piece collection will be available at Paulsmith.com, Paul Smith and Barbour boutiques, and selected retailers worldwide.
Inspired by the atmosphere of British country fairs, the collection revisits some of Barbour’s most iconic outerwear pieces while adding a distinctive Paul Smith twist. Expect not only coats, but also knitwear, accessories, and t-shirts infused with playful detailing, unexpected colours, and a recurring Friesian cow motif.
Paul Smith Loves Barbour: concept and creative direction
The creative direction of Paul Smith Loves Barbour leans into contrasts—countryside traditions meeting metropolitan wit. Grounded in British character but reimagined with modernity, the campaign embraces nostalgia and warmth, evoking a sense of timeless familiarity. At its core, the collection embodies the dialogue between heritage and innovation, town and country, practicality and playfulness.
Barbour’s well-established countryside identity finds itself enlivened by Paul Smith’s metropolitan creativity. The result is a unique union that combines durability, craftsmanship, and heritage with humour, colour, and imaginative detailing.
Highlights of the fashion collaboration
At the heart of the collection is the legendary Barbour Bedale jacket, reinvented in patchwork stripes for both men and women and also offered in bold block-colour versions. Complementing it are the longer Border coat and the shorter Transport jacket, alongside a snap-in vest made from contrasting shirt patterns.
Beyond outerwear, the collaboration includes chunky knitwear in speckled yarns designed for layering, as well as practical waxed cotton bucket hats and rain boots. Barbour’s signature enamel pins also return—this time reimagined with Paul Smith’s quirky touch, featuring motifs such as green parrots, winning rosettes, and Friesian cows.
The meeting of two icons
While both brands share values of quality, heritage, and timeless design, their differences make this collaboration stand out. Barbour brings its countryside DNA, weatherproof practicality, and legacy of outerwear excellence, while Paul Smith injects wit, metropolitan energy, and color. According to Barbour’s menswear director, the partnership feels authentic because it merges both brands’ spirits into garments that are functional yet full of personality.
As Ian Bergin, Barbour Director of Menswear, Footwear & Accessories, says: “There is always a certain wit that Sir Paul brings to the table, which shines through in this collaboration. Beautiful garments, hidden touches, and a playfulness in execution meld seamlessly with Barbour’s practicality and style. The final result is a collection that genuinely feels like an authentic meeting of brands, with both Paul Smith and Barbour’s quintessential spirits very present and visible throughout the pieces. We are excited to see it launch.”
Paul Smith Loves Barbour launches worldwide on October 1st, 2025. The collection will be sold online at Paulsmith.com, as well as in Paul Smith and Barbour flagship stores, with selected wholesale partners offering exclusive pieces.
