This October, Acne Paper Palais Royal will present Peter Schlesinger: Sculpture, a refined exploration of the artist’s ceramic practice, opening during Art Basel Paris from October 23rd to December 14th, 2025. The exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of the original Peter Schlesinger Sculpture show, first staged by Acne Studios in New York in 2015.
Art Basel Paris: celebrating the intimacy of form
Timed to coincide with Art Basel Paris, the exhibition brings together eight ceramic works created between 2013 and 2019. Known for his monumental vessels, Schlesinger turns here to a more introspective scale, presenting trees, plants, and human figures rendered in glazed stoneware. Each sculpture carries a sense of quiet narrative — gestures of connection, growth, and transformation.
Titles such as Man Pruning Tree and Man with Forked Tree evoke ritualistic encounters between humanity and nature, while Small Grove and Three Cypress distill the landscape into timeless archetypes. The works radiate a tactile, earthy immediacy — poetic in restraint yet profoundly alive — revealing the artist’s enduring dialogue between body and environment.
Peter Schlesinger Sculpture: a monograph reimagined
Coinciding with the exhibition, Acne Paper will release an expanded second edition of the acclaimed monograph Peter Schlesinger Sculpture. The original 2015 edition, photographed by Schlesinger’s lifelong partner Eric Boman, documented his evolving sculptural language. The new edition includes more recent works and a newly commissioned foreword by Pulitzer Prize–winning writer Mark Stevens, offering a fresh perspective on Schlesinger’s art.
To celebrate both the exhibition and the publication, a special book signing with the artist will take place at Acne Paper Palais Royal on October 23rd.
