In September, the Ars Electronica Festival 2023 took place in Linz, Austria. This year’s theme, Who Owns the Truth? was reflected in the ambitious program. Each year, the Ars Electronica Center brings together artists, scientists, technologists, and specialists from various fields to answer the vital question of how technologies continue to change the way we live and work with each other.
This year, to celebrate the encounter between human creativity and technological perfection, Ars Electronica has joined forces with the European Commission to present the inaugural AI x Music Festival. One of the highlights of the 2023 Festival program was Deep Space 8K. Outstanding high-definition imagery and 3D applications were demonstrated in an immersive experience space with a 16 x 9 metre wall and projection surface. Deep Space 8K featured a variety of projects, ranging from a journey into the universe and the exploration of data science to virtual immersions in Venice and the masterpieces of classical art. A special part of Deep Space 8K, curated by Alejandro Vergara and Javier Pantoja Ferrari of the Museo del Prado, is Goya Truth. The artist, who received a conventional academic education and was a royal painter, developed his own artistic approach, and his works continue to captivate viewers today.
