The Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York is hosting an exhibition entitled Marc Hom: Re-Framed, showcasing the renowned Danish photographer’s extraordinary oeuvre. Hom is celebrated for his iconic portraits of Hollywood celebrities and cultural icons.
Re-Framed is divided into two parts: a classic gallery retrospective and an outdoor display that challenges conventional formats. In the outdoor section, viewers will experience towering portraits printed at eleven feet and mounted on rotating Masonite frames against the stunning backdrop of Otsego Lake. This immersive installation features 28 striking images of notable personalities, including Anne Hathaway, Johnny Depp, and Sofia Coppola, inviting visitors to engage with the art in a lively outdoor setting. Inside the museum, Hom presents more intimate works, including portraits of Amy Winehouse and Lupita Nyong’o, displayed in a cozy indoor environment.
In addition to juxtaposing his earlier classic portraits with newer works, the exhibition highlights the brilliance of photography as an art form. Hom’s innovative approach encourages viewers to appreciate his subjects’ glamour and charisma, regardless of the setting.
Marc Hom: Re-Framed runs until September 2nd, 2024 and offers a unique opportunity to experience art in multiple dimensions.
