Post Human will be on display at Jeffrey Deitch in Los Angeles from September 12th to December 21st, 2024. Curated by Jeffrey Deitch and Viola Angiolini, this exhibition revisits the influential 1992 show and explores the evolving intersection of technology and human identity. Featuring iconic works by artists such as Matthew Barney, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, Jenny Holzer, and Nam June Paik, the exhibition delves into how technology impacts our sense of self and reality.
The show examines themes of bodily transformation and artificiality through diverse media, including photography, video, and mixed media. It addresses contemporary issues like biometric surveillance, genetic engineering, and virtual reality, highlighting how these technologies are reshaping our understanding of human experience.
By blending historical and modern perspectives, Post Human challenges conventional views of realism and showcases the dynamic relationship between art and technology. The exhibition is part of Getty’s PST Art: Art & Science Collide program, providing a thought-provoking look at the convergence of art and science.
