This summer, the Palais Galliera in Paris will open Temple of Love, a major retrospective dedicated to Rick Owens, running from June 28th, 2025, to January 4th, 2026. Curated under Owens’ own artistic direction, the exhibition spans his entire career, with over 100 fashion silhouettes, personal documents, and video installations on display. Known for pushing boundaries, Owens reimagines the museum itself—draping its facade in sequined fabric and installing 30 brutalist cement sculptures in its garden.
At the heart of the show is a full-scale reconstruction of the California bedroom Owens shared with his wife and muse, Michèle Lamy, emphasizing the deeply personal nature of his practice. The exhibition also features curated artworks by figures like Gustave Moreau and Joseph Beuys, illuminating the wide cultural and philosophical references that inform Owens’ designs. One project, for instance, wraps classical outdoor statues in sequins, blending sacred symbolism with Owens’ signature aesthetic of defiance and glamor.
Another standout is the display of cement sculptures rising from the museum garden, surrounded by Californian plants, recalling the designer’s West Coast origins. The Palais Galliera describes the exhibition as a “meditation on love, beauty, and diversity,” highlighting the spiritual and emotional threads that run through Owens’ work. Lamy’s influence is deeply felt throughout, presented not only through personal artifacts but in the exhibition’s very structure.
Far more than a fashion showcase, Temple of Love is an immersive environment—a sanctuary of radical design, where architecture meets emotion, and every cut tells a story.
