ERDEM: Imaginary Conversations exhibition inspired by Duchess Deborah opens today at Chatsworth. This special show in the guest rooms explores the creative journey of fashion designer Erdem Moralıoğlu as he creates a collection inspired by the late Duchess Deborah Devonshire.

Visitors will witness the transformation of historic textiles from the Devonshire archives into modern fashion pieces. The exhibition features key looks from Erdem’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, juxtaposed with the original materials and garments that inspired them. The layout of the project takes visitors through several rooms, each offering a unique perspective on Erdem’s work and Duchess Deborah’s legacy. The Queen of Scots Lobby introduces guests to Deborah’s world through personal items and letters, while the Queen of Scots Dressing Room reveals the tools and processes of Erdem’s studio. The Leicester Bedroom showcases draped archival textiles alongside Erdem’s designs, creating a dramatic visual interplay.

In the Alcove Bedroom, Duchess Deborah’s jewellery collection is displayed alongside Erdem’s bejewelled garments, fusing historical and contemporary artistry. The Wellington Dressing Room highlights Duchess Deborah’s cherished Elvis slippers, and the Wellington Bedroom concludes the exhibition with displays of her inspirations and Erdem’s corresponding designs. Large-screen projections of the Spring/Summer 2024 catwalk show will immerse visitors and make them feel part of the fashion world.

ERDEM: Imaginary Conversations will be on view from June 22nd to October 20th, 2024.
