Tatiana Trouvé unveils her largest exhibition at Palazzo Grassi

Currently on view at Palazzo Grassi in Venice, The Strange Life of Things marks the largest solo exhibition to date by French-Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé. Running from April 6th, 2025 to January 4th, 2026, the show transforms all three floors of the museum into an intricate journey through memory, matter, and time.

Curated by Caroline Bourgeois and James Lingwood, the exhibition presents newly commissioned sculptures and large-scale drawings in conversation with works from the past decade. A standout is Les Gardiens, a series of ghostly sculptural presences that hint at invisible figures through carefully placed clothing and objects—symbols of absence and care. Another highlight, Bureau d’Activités Implicites (1997), reimagines the artist’s early years of precarity as a fictional office, reflecting on the emotional labor behind becoming an artist. Trouvé’s distinctive aesthetic merges personal narrative with a poetic sense of displacement, guiding viewers through surreal spatial shifts. The works move fluidly between two and three dimensions, evoking a dreamlike passage between inner and outer worlds. Complementing the exhibition are live performances, including an original concert by Teho Teardo and Blixa Bargeld. With this ambitious project, the Pinault Collection offers a deeply immersive look into Trouvé’s singular vision of instability, transformation, and the quiet life of objects.
