Temple of the Deep

Temple of the Deep

The 2025 Burning Man Temple, titled Temple of the Deep, will take center stage in the Black Rock Desert from August 24th to September 1st, 2025. Designed by Spanish architect Miguel Arraiz, the Temple offers a space for reflection, healing, and connection, rooted in the concept of radical acceptance.

Arraiz’s vision draws inspiration from nature, with the Temple resembling a fractured black rock—a metaphor for loss and healing. Its design embraces imperfection, inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, where cracks are highlighted with gold to celebrate history and transformation. “The Temple is a space to fully experience emotions without rushing through them,” Arraiz explains, emphasizing its role as a sanctuary for resilience and personal growth.

Blending organic and geometric forms, the Temple echoes caves and mountains, places where humanity has long sought spiritual refuge. Baroque influences shape the structure, creating a dynamic interplay of movement and perspective, inviting deep contemplation.

Arraiz, known for his large-scale installations for Valencia’s Las Fallas festival and previous Burning Man projects, sees Temple of the Deep as a communal endeavor.

Set against the expansive Black Rock Desert, this Temple promises to be a profound space for introspection and connection, symbolizing both the fragility and strength of the human experience.
