The Armory Show opens today at the Javits Center in New York, celebrating its 30th anniversary with a showcase of contemporary art from around the world. This year’s edition features over 235 galleries from 35 countries, with works ranging from painting and sculpture to video and performance. Highlights of the fair include sections such as Focus, curated by Robyn Farrell, which revisits the avant-garde spirit of the fair’s founding, and Platform, curated by Eugenie Tsai, which presents large-scale installations exploring themes of memory and material.
The programme also includes Solo, dedicated to the presentation of individual artists, and Presents, highlighting emerging galleries. Notably, this year’s event includes the Curatorial Leadership Summit, led by Lauren Cornell, which brings together leading curators to discuss the influence of historical reverberations in contemporary art. Featured artists include Dominique Fung, Sanford Biggers and Nari Ward, among others, offering a variety of creative expressions.
The Armory Show runs from September 6th-8th, 2024, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge work and engage in conversation with artists and curators.
