Each year, the Kering Group presents the Women in Motion Award to female creators from around the world. In the field of photography, this year’s winner is Miyako Ishiuchi. The Japanese photographer will receive the award at the Théâtre Antique d’Arles, where she will present her work and discuss her views on the role of women in photography and society.
Ishiuchi Miyako’s work explores themes of female representation and Japan’s wartime past. She challenges mainstream beauty standards by celebrating imperfection and confronting historical narratives, advocating for women’s autonomy and representation through her art.
Kering will continue to support the work of Ishiuchi Miyako by collaborating with Kyotographie to present a monographic exhibition of the Japanese artist in Arles, as well as supporting other exhibitions such as Transcendence. In addition, the Women In Motion LAB will present a group exhibition of Japanese photographers entitled I’m So Happy You Are Here at the Palais de l’Archevêché.
