La Galerie Dior in Paris is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to the celebrated fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, running until May 4th, 2025. This retrospective, titled Dior/Lindbergh, offers a unique perspective on Dior’s legacy through the lens of Lindbergh, whose career spanned over 30 years with the fashion house. Curated by Olivier Flaviano, the show emphasizes Lindbergh’s artistic focus on portraying the authentic, powerful femininity behind Dior’s creations.
The exhibition includes approximately 100 photographs, each capturing pivotal moments with Dior’s iconic designs from 1988 to 2018. These images reflect the aesthetic evolution under Dior’s different creative directors, from founder Christian Dior to contemporary designer Maria Grazia Chiuri. Visitors will see Lindbergh’s famous black-and-white photographs, which highlight Dior’s enduring style through a minimalist, almost cinematic approach.
A highlight of the show is a series of previously unseen photographs from a 2018 Dior shoot in New York. These images transform city streets into a dynamic stage, offering a refreshing counterpoint to the refined, controlled settings typical of haute couture. The exhibit also features contact sheets and handwritten notes from Lindbergh’s archives, giving insight into his creative process.
Alongside the photographs, Dior pieces themselves are on display, bringing Lindbergh’s subjects to life in three dimensions. This dual presentation allows visitors to experience both the archival garments and the emotions they evoke in Lindbergh’s images, adding depth to Dior’s storied past. For fans of both fashion and photography, this exhibition is a profound homage to Lindbergh’s ability to blend humanism with haute couture, casting Dior in a new, timeless light.
