Renowned artist Thomas J. Price has unveiled his latest public art installation, titled A Place Beyond, located outside the V&A East Museum in Stratford, London. This impressive piece will greet visitors ahead of the museum’s grand opening on April 18th, 2026, marking a new chapter in East London’s cultural landscape.
Public art that reflects contemporary life
Standing at 18 feet tall, A Place Beyond is Price’s tallest sculpture to date. Crafted in bronze using a fusion of digital technology and traditional techniques, it depicts a fictional young person in casual dress, mobile phone in hand, gazing toward the horizon. The sculpture invites viewers to bring their own experiences to the work, serving as a quiet emblem of change and a call to reject social or racial profiling.
V&A East Museum: a hub for creativity
The V&A East Museum, designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey, opens on East Bank in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and will feature permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, live events, and a café by London restaurant Jikoni. A Place Beyond reflects the museum’s mission to celebrate creativity, representation, and inclusivity in public spaces, symbolizing those historically excluded from monuments.
