V&A East Storehouse: a new era of museum access will open in London

The highly anticipated V&A East Storehouse will open its doors on 31st May 2025, located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. This groundbreaking cultural space, designed by Diller, Scofidio + Renfro, promises an immersive museum experience that offers unprecedented access to the V&A’s extensive collection.

One of its standout features is the Order an Object service, launching on 13th May, which allows visitors to book free, personalized access to objects ranging from ancient Egyptian shoes to cutting-edge fashion by Comme des Garçons. Over 100 curated mini-displays will showcase treasures like Hew Locke’s The Prize and Thomas Heatherwick’s London 2012 Olympic cauldron model, alongside new acquisitions by emerging global artists. A highlight will be the monumental Picasso stage cloth, Le Train Bleu, displayed for the first time in over a decade.

V&A East Storehouse will also host live events, including back2back: Archival Bodies, and a new programming strand featuring artist Jasleen Kaur. The venue will operate seven days a week, with late-night openings, offering a blend of exhibitions, performances, and creative programming. The storehouse offers visitors the chance to engage with the behind-the-scenes workings of a museum, deepening their understanding of art and design.
