Titled Chiroptera (the scientific name for bats), this performance will be as unique as it is outrageous. JR‘s new project, which takes place on Sunday 12 November for performances, shows just how accustomed the photographer and street artist is to pushing the boundaries.
For this event, JR has teamed up with Thomas Bangalter for the music and Damien Jalet for the choreography: ultra-precise and unique for each of the 153 dancers who will perform at night in front of the already visible set installed on the building.
This is JR’s second performance at the Opéra Garnier, which is undergoing renovation. For Act 1, JR used a large stage curtain to create a cave with symbolic meaning. In Act 2, the audience is invited to symbolically enter this cave, represented by another curtain adorned with handprints, as JR explores light and darkness.
