Marian Goodman Gallery has inaugurated its new headquarters at 385 Broadway, New York, with the group exhibition Your Patience Is Appreciated, open from October 26th to December 14th, 2024. Curated by Gallery President Philipp Kaiser, the exhibition brings together 75 diverse works from 50 artists, spanning generations and geographies, to underscore the conceptual ties that unite the Gallery’s program. According to Kaiser, the exhibition title reflects the patience and reflective engagement that are central to the artists’ creative practices and symbolic of the Gallery’s commitment to fostering critical and poetic artistic expression.
The exhibition includes a spectrum of installations, sound and video works, paintings, and sculptures across three floors of the newly restored Grosvenor Building. Highlights include a cinematic installation by Tacita Dean that explores the ephemeral nature of time through layered, moving images, and Tino Sehgal‘s participatory piece that invites viewers to consider presence and communication in art.
Managing Partner Rose Lord noted the Gallery’s return to New York with a renewed sense of connection between its artists, an opportunity not seen in nearly a decade. Emily-Jane Kirwan, also a Managing Partner, emphasized the new space as a platform for the international practices central to the Gallery’s legacy. Running continuously throughout the show is a film program spotlighting rotating works that showcase the Gallery’s dedication to time-based and radical art forms.
Your Patience Is Appreciated marks a significant moment in Marian Goodman Gallery’s 50-year history, embodying the Gallery’s long-standing dedication to artists whose work challenges, inspires, and connects across continents.
