ZZZN Sleep Apparel System: the future of wearable rest arrives in Japan

Blending ancient Japanese traditions with cutting-edge technology, the ZZZN Sleep Apparel System is a revolutionary puffer jacket that doubles as mobile sleepwear. Developed by NTT DX Partners and ZAKONE, the system was first unveiled during a public trial on February 7th, 2025, at Frame Gallery YSJ Building B1 in Shibuya, Tokyo, and is now on display at Expo 2025 Osaka, running through October 13th, 2025. At its core, the concept is simple yet powerful: carry your rest anywhere.

The ZZZN Sleep Apparel System jacket integrates biometric monitoring through the SOXAI ring, which tracks sleep patterns, stress levels, and heart rate. Using this data, built-in headphones and lighting automatically adapt with customized sound frequencies and light tones to support deeper rest and gentle awakening. Inspired by the traditional Yogi kimono, the garment features Kodenshi fiber for warmth and relaxation, while remaining lightweight and easy to wear.

A red-toned light simulates sunset to ease users into sleep, while soft blue light and curated music help them wake gradually. Adjustable features—including a headpiece, removable hood, and air-cushioned collar—ensure comfort whether sleeping upright or lying down. Currently available in a light blue tone, the system has been designed with both portability and personalization in mind. Looking ahead, the project team is seeking collaboration with fashion brands, textile innovators, and designers to further explore the future of wearable wellness. In an age of constant digital stimulation, ZZZN Sleep Apparel System offers a welcome counterbalance: a garment that lets you switch off, anywhere.
