Haus Nowhere Shanghai represents Gentle Monster’s new vision for future retail, emphasizing quantum mechanical concepts and collaboration with brands.

Bringing together the identities of Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster, Haus Nowhere Shanghai is currently hosting a limited time pop-up. An exhibition space showcasing media art exhibitions and collaborations, including The Giant Who Arrived at the Bird Village, featuring a robotic face. The two large kinetic heads pay homage to Marina Abramović and Ulay’s 1977/2010 performance Relation in Time, in which the artists sat back-to-back for over 16 hours, symbolizing the exchange of energy with the audience. In addition, the space features a fresh color scheme and accompanying artwork Reclining Figure by artist Gwon Osang.

The artworks illustrate the fusion of the human and the robotic through communion, delicately blurring the boundaries between the two entities while visually representing the distortion of space-time at the interface between the present and the future.
