Art Paris returns to the newly restored Grand Palais for its 27th edition from April 3rd to April 6th, 2025. After four years of extensive restoration, this iconic venue, originally built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, has been painstakingly restored to its former glory. The renovated space will now host 170 French and international galleries, reinforcing the fair’s reputation as a leading event for modern and contemporary art.
The 2025 edition will explore two main themes: Immortal and Out of Bounds. Immortal, curated by Amélie Adamo and Numa Hambursin, will focus on figurative painting in France. This theme offers an ambitious panorama of young French figurative painters, building on their previous exhibition. The aim is to juxtapose historical influences with contemporary practices. This will demonstrate the dynamic nature of this art form amidst the global dominance of abstraction and new media.
Out of Bounds, curated by Simon Lamunière, will explore contemporary art through the lens of multi-ethnicity and cultural hybridisation. Featuring works by twenty international artists, the theme will address issues of origin, gender, kinship, history and geography. Lamunière’s selection aims to reflect the diverse and evolving nature of the contemporary art scene, emphasising the fluidity and intersectionality of modern cultural expressions.
In addition, the 2025 edition will expand the Promises section for young galleries and emerging artists. With over twenty galleries, this sector will provide a platform for cutting-edge contemporary art on the balconies around the central nave. Each gallery will be able to present up to three emerging artists, with sponsorship reducing exhibitor fees to encourage participation.
Marc Donnadieu, an independent exhibition curator and member of the Art Paris selection committee, will oversee the curation of the Promises section. This initiative underlines Art Paris’ commitment to nurturing new talent and offering forward-looking insights into contemporary art.
