Ophélie

Ophélie

Choreographed by French artist Yoann Bourgeois and performed by dancer Marie Bourgeois, Ophélie is a captivating exploration of artistic and emotional relationships. This dance and theatre performance is both exquisite and nuanced, mirroring the intimate and sentimental bond shared between the two artists.

In the performance, Yoann and Marie illustrate the uniqueness of their art by embracing the uniqueness of others in a deeply human way. The concept explores themes of vulnerability and connection, highlighted by a poignant scene in which Manon is depicted inside Marie’s ‘womb’, which is in turn inside the Chartreuse’s ‘womb’. This layered metaphor symbolises the intricate bonds and protective spaces we create and inhabit.

Accompanied by the evocative music of The Lake by Antony and The Johnsons, the performance is a tender portrayal of personal and artistic intertwining, inviting the audience to witness the profound beauty of human connection through dance and theatre.
