Studio Wayne McGregor has announced an ambitious lineup for its 2024-2025 program, filled with innovative performances, world premieres, and creative collaborations. The season kicks off with WAYNE MCGREGOR: INFINITE BODIES, a landmark exhibition opening at Somerset House in October 2025. This exhibition will explore McGregor’s 30-year career, showcasing his groundbreaking work at the intersection of dance, science, and technology.
Among the key events, On The Other Earth, a post-cinematic choreographic installation by McGregor and Jeffrey Shaw, will premiere in July 2025. Using advanced technology such as 360-degree LED screens and AI interactivity, this installation promises to redefine audience engagement with dance, blending performance and digital imagery in an immersive experience.
In November 2024, McGregor will bring his adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam to the Royal Opera House for its UK premiere. This full-length ballet, based on Atwood’s dystopian trilogy, features a score by Max Richter and costumes by Gareth Pugh, promising to be a visually and musically arresting experience.
In February 2025, Deepstaria, which debuted at Montpellier Danse Festival, will make its UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells. Inspired by a species of deep-sea jellyfish, the performance explores themes of mortality and our connection to the void, incorporating innovative stage design and AI-generated soundscapes.
Another highlight is McGregor’s presentation at the Venice Biennale Dance 2025, where he will curate a new program for the 19th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, set to be announced in April 2025. This will continue his tenure as Artistic Director of the festival, where he has consistently pushed the boundaries of contemporary dance.
Alongside these major productions, Studio Wayne McGregor will also reveal the new cohort of RESIDENT 6 artists in January 2025, further supporting emerging talent in dance and movement arts. The season will also include a continuation of the ABBA Voyage concert series, choreographed by McGregor, which will run throughout 2025. With this dynamic mix of performances, exhibitions, and residencies, Studio Wayne McGregor’s 2024-2025 program promises to be one of the most exciting seasons yet.
