Nick Knight and SHOWstudio have presented the exhibition SHADOW-BAN, running from October 12th to November 30th, 2024. This thought-provoking exhibition explores the theme of censorship in contemporary art, focusing on how illicit content is suppressed across social media platforms. The show will feature a diverse array of works, including paintings, sculptures, films, photography, and performances by artists such as Peter Saville, Ray Caesar, George Rouy, Miles Greenberg, and Oh de Laval.
In collaboration with the Tom of Finland Foundation, SHADOW-BAN highlights the impact of algorithmic censorship on politically or sexually charged art, inviting viewers to challenge societal taboos. The exhibition will also showcase Queer erotic art from Tom of Finland’s legacy and 15 emerging artists supported by the Foundation’s Artist-in-Residence program.
Through this collaboration, SHADOW-BAN aims to promote greater tolerance and creative freedom, emphasizing the importance of resisting censorship in the art world. The exhibition is organized by Nick Knight and SHOWstudio Gallery and runs concurrently with the annual Art & Culture Festival, further enriching the dialogue on morality and artistic expression in today’s digital age.
