Everything Is So Alive!

Everything Is So Alive!

Bergen Kunsthall hosts the group exhibition Everything Is So Alive!, running now through March 30th, 2025. Curated by Nora-Swantje Almes and Silja Leifsdottir, the show features works by Dora Budor, Tianzhuo Chen, Nikita Gale, Ventura Profana, Tracey Rose, and Tejal Shah, exploring the potential for new beginnings amid societal and environmental collapse.

The exhibition challenges the perception of collapse as purely destructive, framing it instead as a generative force. Inspired by Jack Halberstam’s concept of “unworlding,” it advocates dismantling oppressive systems to create space for alternative futures. The works presented reflect a variety of artistic strategies, from storytelling and preservation to engagements with Indigenous knowledge systems.

Highlights include Tianzhuo Chen’s motorized character, traversing the galleries in a surreal exploration of chaos and resilience. Nikita Gale’s sound-based installation transforms urban noise into evocative city soundscapes, uncovering beauty in disorder. Additionally, Tejal Shah’s multimedia pieces navigate human and non-human connections, blending fantasy with ecological reflection.

Everything Is So Alive! invites viewers to reimagine brokenness as a site for possibility, where futures can emerge through collective adaptation and creativity. The exhibition serves as a timely reflection on our interconnected existence, affirming that even in collapse, everything is alive.
