Tilda Swinton curates Supersonic Mediaeval, an exclusive exhibition featuring the work of British artist and designer Marianna Kennedy. Set to take place at Christie’s Paris from May 5th to 11th, 2025, the exhibition presents a retrospective of Kennedy’s work, celebrating her innovative use of materials such as resin, wood, bronze, and Murano glass. Swinton, a longtime admirer and collector of Kennedy’s creations, brings her unique artistic vision to the show, blending tradition and modernity in a theatrical and cinematic environment.
The exhibition title, Supersonic Mediaeval, reflects the fusion of ancient craftsmanship and contemporary design that defines Kennedy’s work. Among the key pieces, visitors will encounter Kennedy’s iconic gilded mirrors, reimagined with modern techniques, as well as exquisite bronze and lacquer works. The show also features delicate lamps and sculptural objects that draw inspiration from the rich history of Spitalfields, London, where Kennedy’s studio is based.
Swinton’s collaboration with Kennedy highlights their shared love for craftsmanship and the reimagining of historical techniques through modern materials. The exhibition will transport visitors into an immersive space where the old and new coexist, creating a dynamic dialogue between art and design. As Swinton guides viewers through this captivating journey, Supersonic Mediaeval promises to be an unforgettable celebration of artistry and craftsmanship.
