Es Devlin’s Atlantic ode: a visionary installation for Zara’s 50th anniversary in A Coruña

To celebrate the Zara 50th anniversary, the brand has commissioned an extraordinary new artwork: an Es Devlin installation that transforms the Cúpula Atlántica Observatory in A Coruña into a multidimensional homage to the sea. Titled 50 Songs of the Sea, this immersive experience is open to the public from July 3rd to October 12th, 2025, and marks a cultural highlight of the Zara 50th anniversary festivities.

Internationally acclaimed for her boundary-defying stage and spatial designs, Devlin brings her signature vision to this unique coastal setting. This Es Devlin installation invites 288 visitors to sit in three concentric circles of rotating seats under a projection-mapped dome, surrounded by an oceanic soundscape that echoes the rhythms of the Atlantic. The experience is heightened by an illuminated LED strip outside the dome, displaying excerpts from 50 sea-themed poems—fusing literature, light, and motion.

More than just a spectacle, this Es Devlin installation is a poetic tribute to the people of A Coruña and their deep-rooted connection to the sea. Positioned near the historic Torre de Hércules, the site offers sweeping views of the Atlantic horizon—blending nature, architecture, and fashion storytelling in a single breath.

As part of the Zara 50th anniversary, the brand will also host live concerts, creative workshops, and the stylish Terraza Atlántica bar throughout the summer.

Don’t miss our Es Devlin interview, where she shares insights on the creative rituals that fuel her work, her fascination with kinetic architecture, and how collaboration shapes her practice.
