Fusion at Oper Leipzig

The ballet Fusion, performed at Oper Leipzig, marked a groundbreaking milestone, creating an entirely new form of artistic expression through the integration of AI. Audiences were transported into a world where human voices, nature, and AI intertwine, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. Inspired by Plato’s concept, the storyline of ‘Fusion’ explored the questions of harmony, the rational, and the irrational, showing the connection between the real world and artificial intelligence.

A cast of 35 international dancers performed Mario Schroder’s choreography through a series of imaginary landscapes designed by Paul Zoller. The mesmerising synergy between the AI-generated projections and the physical stage was embellished by an audial part, created in collaboration between AI and Harry Yeff (also known as Reeps100). It combined classical compositions, synthetic voices, and electronic music with beatbox technique.

In a world that thrives on the constant evolution of technology, “Fusion” is a reminder that art has the power to adapt and push new boundaries. This ballet performance reveals the future, where the possibilities become limitless as humanity and technology converge.
