The second edition of Frieze Seoul runs from September 6–9. The international art fair features more than 120 international galleries showcasing contemporary art, with a strong emphasis on Asian and Korean artists. Frieze Seoul takes place at the COEX Exhibition Hall in the Gangnam district of the city, alongside Kiaf Seoul, South Korea. The fair also coincides with Seoul Art Week, which features curated programs of Film, Talks, and Music held throughout the city.
According to Patrick Lee, Director of Frieze Seoul, “These special projects anchor Frieze’s identity as an artist-driven organisation and promise to secure the fair’s position as an unmissable moment in the international arts calendar.”
The list of world-leading galleries participating in Frieze Seoul includes the ACA Galleries, Ben Brown Fine Arts, Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, Sadie Coles HQ, Empty Gallery, Gagosian, Kosaku Kanechika, and others. This year, Frieze Seoul announced a new global partnership with the Getty, a cultural and philanthropic institution dedicated to the presentation, conservation, and interpretation of the world’s artistic legacy. The two organisations will collaborate on a series of commissions and events that will travel from Seoul to London and then to Los Angeles in the lead-up to the inaugural PST ART.
