The Armory Show will open its doors to bring the world’s leading international contemporary and modern art galleries to New York. The fair is an essential part of the New York cultural landscape and makes a significant contribution to the art market. The Armory Show will include an extensive program, meaningful institutional partnerships, and public art events and will take place at Javits Center in New York.
The various parts of the fair aim to highlight artworks of various types, each with its own unique journey, to be included in the Armory Show. The section Galleries will exhibit their most notable pieces. In this part, the world’s leading galleries will participate in the Armory Show including the 303 Gallery, Apalazzo Gallery, Albertz Benda, Raquel Arnaud Art Gallery, Peter Blum Gallery, Galerie Crone, Gallery Forsblom, Green On Red Gallery, Livie Gallery and others. The Solo section focuses on intimate displays of work by an individual artist established in the 20th or 21st century. Focus will bring attention to both emerging and established artists whose works often diverge from the mainstream to create unexpected connections between material, image, and form. Presents will showcase galleries that have been active for more than a decade, while Platform will devote itself to large-scale installations and site-specific works centred around the theme of Rewriting Histories.
Nicole Berry, the Armory Show’s executive director, said: “Our identity remains unique because we encompass contemporary art on an international level — our roots are regional but our scale is global.”
The Armory Show has been running since 1994, when New York art dealers, had their great idea to support their artists and attract global attention by establishing this groundbreaking cultural fair. Throughout the years, the Armory Show has continued to be the most significant event for the New York art world.
