On the occasion of the release of Wes Anderson’s latest film in Italy, Fondazione Prada presents Wes Anderson – Asteroid City: Exhibition at its Nord Gallery. The exhibition features original sets, miniatures, costumes, and artwork from the film. The show was conceived by the curators as a journey into Wes Anderson’s creative cinematic universe. Anderson’s eleventh film tells the story of young astronomers and space cadets who are brought together by mysterious events that will change the world.
The aesthetic of Asteroid City was inspired by Western and science fiction. The Fondazione Prada’s grey cement space is in dialogue with the bright, vibrant colors of the film’s sets and other exhibits. The exhibition includes a miniature model of a freight train traveling through the desert. There is also a funny pastel vending machine filled with snacks, tobacco, drinks, and ammunition for the people of Asteroid City, and a telephone booth. Wes Anderson wants every prop and costume he and his crew have ever made for all their films to be donated to the Prada Foundation to live there indefinitely for all time if the Foundation will allow it. Although Wes Anderson – Asteroid City: Exhibition will only be open for a limited time, it could be enough time to give the props and sets used in the film and share them with viewers and fans.
