The Lyon Biennale de la Danse is one of the most prestigious dance festivals in the world. This September, it is back for less than a month, and this year’s edition is indeed more exciting than ever. The festival is taking place from September 9–30, 2023, in theatres all over Lyon.
The 20th Biennale de la Danse is directed by Tiago Guedes. One of the highlights of the festival was the Défilé, a choreographed parade with over 4000 participants and 12 groups. The theme of the Défilé focused on the harmonious interplay between art and sport, as France will be host to the Olympic Games next year.
The festival has featured 48 shows, 21 new creations, and 46 choreographers. Among the notable pieces were Dimitris Papaioannou’s Ink, Lia Rodrigues’s Encantado, and Dalila Belaza’s Figures.
The 20th Dance Biennial will also stretch across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region until 21 October 2023. Find out more on the official website.
