Dries Van Noten’s emblematic fragrance, Soie Malaquais, has taken a transformative turn in collaboration with Dutch ceramic artist Bouke de Vries, merging scent with sculpture and redefining the boundaries of perfume design. The limited-edition bottles, which were released on February 10th, 2026, in London and New York galleries, celebrate the tension between fragility and reinvention, reflecting both Van Noten’s design philosophy and de Vries’s poetic approach to ceramics.
Bouke de Vries transforms Soie Malaquais
Known for turning fragmented ceramics into singular works of art, Bouke de Vries approached the Soie Malaquais base with his signature technique: shattering and reconstituting the porcelain into delicate forms such as flowers, buttons, and fans. Each of the five one-of-a-kind bottles integrates cobalt-blue motifs, evoking naturalistic patterns and the Maison’s fascination with texture, pattern, and layered emotion. The collaboration celebrates the beauty in imperfection, echoing the layered notes of the fragrance itself—a blend of silk, chestnut, cacao, and rose that embodies warmth, luminosity, and subtle tension.
Exhibition and Installation
Alongside the release, a special installation by Bouke de Vries is on view at Dries Van Noten’s Galerie Quai Malaquais, Paris, until March 12th, 2026. The exhibition features four unique artworks that expand the dialogue between craft, materiality, and emotion, allowing visitors to experience the fusion of fragrance and sculpture firsthand. Situated in the heart of Paris’ Rive Gauche, the space complements the Maison’s ongoing exploration of artistic heritage, beauty, and innovation.
This collaboration not only elevates Soie Malaquais into a collector’s object but also exemplifies how perfume design can intersect with contemporary art, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
