Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot and celebrated contemporary artist Daniel Arsham have once again joined forces to unveil the MP-17 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire — a visionary creation that redefines the boundaries of horological art. The launch marks the latest evolution in the ongoing Hublot x Daniel Arsham collaboration, continuing their shared pursuit of innovation where design, art, and technology converge.
Daniel Arsham design: where time meets fluidity
The new MP-17 Arsham Splash follows the success of last year’s transformable pocket watch, the MP-16 Arsham Droplet, translating Arsham’s sculptural vision into a wearable form for the first time. Inspired by the natural movement of water and the concept of timeless flow, the watch embodies Arsham’s notion of Fictional Archaeology — a design philosophy that reimagines modern objects as relics of the past or artefacts from the future.
The 42mm titanium and sapphire case takes the shape of a dispersing water splash, a continuation of the droplet-inspired aesthetic seen in the MP-16. With its transparent crystal structure, the piece invites light to dance across its surface, echoing the fluid geometry of water in motion. Inside, Hublot’s in-house Meca-10 manual-wind movement powers the watch, visible through both the dial aperture and sapphire caseback — a true fusion of Daniel Arsham design and Hublot’s mastery of mechanical precision.
The art of contemporary watchmaking
For Hublot, this creation embodies its celebrated Art of Fusion philosophy, combining the technical prowess of fine watchmaking with the expressive language of contemporary art. The MP-17’s materials — sapphire, titanium, and rubber — offer both lightness and strength, allowing the sculptural form to remain functional and wearable.
Signature Hublot details such as the six H-shaped screws, distinctive lugs, and titanium folding clasp ensure the timepiece remains rooted in the brand’s DNA. Arsham’s signature green accents illuminate the hands, numerals, and indicators, bringing his artistic identity to every detail.
A limited masterpiece of horological art
Limited to just 99 pieces, the MP-17 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire is both a collector’s dream and a bold statement in contemporary design. More than a timepiece, it is a wearable sculpture — a meeting point of imagination, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Available at Hublot boutiques and authorized retailers, this collaboration cements Hublot x Daniel Arsham as one of the most daring and forward-thinking partnerships in modern watchmaking — proof that when art and time unite, boundaries dissolve like water.
In our Daniel Arsham interview, the artist reflects on beauty, collaboration, and the passage of time in his creative process. Don’t miss it.
