PHILEO presents a stunning new installation by acclaimed Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata in the courtyard of Dover Street Market Paris. Titled Avalanche (2024), this site-specific artwork will be on display from September 21st to October 5th, 2024. Developed in collaboration with the Mennour art gallery and adidas, the installation combines artistic innovation with architectural elegance, drawing inspiration from designer Philéo Landowski’s pioneering work in footwear design.
The concept behind Avalanche (2024) centers on the harmonious integration of organic and recycled materials, transforming the space into a dynamic sculptural environment. Kawamata’s vision plays with dimension and form, respecting the historical context of the venue while pushing creative boundaries. The installation invites visitors to explore the fluidity between art, architecture, and design, while engaging with the surrounding architectural elements of Dover Street Market.
The goal of the project is to honor the interplay between creativity and community. Landowski, a native of the neighborhood, draws inspiration from his family’s deep roots in the Parisian art scene, infusing the installation with personal significance. This collaboration also emphasizes PHILEO’s commitment to blending tradition with modernity, much like the reimagined adidas Superstar sneakers that are hand-painted in the style of Kawamata.
By partnering with Mennour and adidas, PHILEO underscores its dedication to fostering artistic dialogue and innovation. The installation not only showcases Kawamata’s visionary talent but also celebrates the rich cultural history of Paris, making it a must-see event this fall.
