The freedom of dreams: LEMAIRE unveils a Roland Topor-inspired capsule collection and exhibition

LEMAIRE presents Je dors beaucoup (I Sleep a Lot), an exhibition celebrating the graphic universe of French artist Roland Topor (1938–1997), at its Elzévir boutique in Paris from October 23rd to November 12th, 2026. Co-curated by Sarah-Linh Tran and Jos Auzende, the project gathers drawings, illustrations, hybrid objects and sculptures in a playful exploration of dreams and the shifting boundaries between art, fashion and everyday life.

A dreamlike dialogue

Named after one of Topor’s characteristically ironic expressions, Je dors beaucoup turns the boutique into an immersive landscape where artworks and garments converse. Renowned for grotesque imagery, dark humour and visual poetry, Topor moved fluidly between illustration, literature, animation and performance, crafting an uncanny universe where human, animal and landscape forms mutate and collide.

This surreal sensibility extends to LEMAIRE’s Autumn/Winter 2026 capsule collection, featuring garments and accessories adorned with the artist’s work. Blouses, skirts, fringed pieces, boots and scarves reinterpret his graphic motifs through tactile fabrics and thorn-like textures. A quilt, for instance, doubles as a skirt or blanket, suggesting a wardrobe unbound by conventional silhouettes and fixed functions.

The exhibition and collection share a fascination with shifting meanings and unexpected possibilities. Sculptural works and scenography by French artist Karine Marques Ferreira echo Topor’s fluid visual language, questioning the boundaries between body, image and surroundings.
