Loro Piana marks its centenary with its first-ever exhibition, If You Know, You Know. Loro Piana’s Quest for Excellence, at the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai. Running from March 22nd to May 5th, 2025, the retrospective explores the Maison’s heritage through a sensory and immersive experience, curated by Judith Clark.
Set in the striking MAP building designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, the exhibition blends documentary storytelling with interactive installations. It highlights Loro Piana’s mastery of textile craftsmanship, tracing its journey from raw materials to finished garments. Central to the exhibition is the brand’s deep-rooted connection with China, home to its iconic Cashmere.
The showcase unfolds across 15 rooms, each dedicated to a key aspect of Loro Piana’s legacy. One standout installation magnifies ultra-fine Cashmere fibers under a microscope, offering a glimpse into the precision behind their production. Another space, the Thistle Room, features an embroidered silk chiné hoop skirt adorned with 124,000 glass beads and 59,000 sequins, celebrating the thistle’s role in fabric softening.
A travel-inspired section pairs ten iconic silhouettes with landscapes where their fibers originated, linking craftsmanship to nature. Meanwhile, a cinematic installation transports visitors to Valsesia, the historic birthplace of Loro Piana, capturing the artisanship behind its creations.
As the first luxury House to exhibit at MAP, Loro Piana redefines fashion storytelling with this multisensory experience. A collectible catalogue accompanies the exhibition, featuring insights from CEO Damien Bertrand and curator Judith Clark. Open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM, the exhibition offers an unparalleled journey into the artistry and innovation that define Loro Piana’s century of excellence.
