Hideo Kojima and Nicolas Refn’s vision at Prada Aoyama

Prada Aoyama Tokyo will host Satellites, an ambitious exhibition by filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and game designer Hideo Kojima, running from April 18th to August 25th, 2025. Set within the iconic Herzog & de Meuron-designed space, the project explores human connection through the lens of cinema and gaming.

At the heart of the exhibition is a holographic encounter between Refn and Kojima, where their voices—one in English, the other in Japanese—resonate in a contemplative dialogue. This interplay of language and media reflects their shared creative vision, dissolving barriers between disciplines. Visitors step into a surreal, mid-century-inspired living space, where familiar domestic objects—lamps, sofas, a bed—are subtly recontextualized.

Six retro-style televisions, resembling alien spacecraft, stand scattered throughout the room, their exposed circuits revealing a fusion of analog and digital aesthetics. On their screens, Refn and Kojima appear locked in an ongoing exchange, discussing themes of technology, identity, and artistic process. In a secondary space, a cassette player offers an interactive experience, with AI-generated translations of their dialogue inviting visitors to construct their own narrative.

Blurring boundaries between presence and absence, reality and simulation, Satellites offers a glimpse into a future where creative disciplines continue to merge, reshaping the way we perceive art, technology, and connection.
