Aesop recently unveiled a captivating sensorial installation at the historic Shoreditch Tab Centre in London to mark the launch of its new Aesop fragrance, Above Us, Steorra Eau de Parfum. The two-day event, held on 19th–20th September, invited visitors to experience the perfume in an immersive environment that blended scent, storytelling, and visual art.
An immersive pop-up experience
The immersive pop-up transformed the Tab Centre’s grand hall into a celestial-inspired landscape, transporting guests to a star-strewn world. The installation explored the narrative behind Above Us, Steorra, offering visitors a multi-layered sensory journey. Readings of a fragrant fable evoked the perfume’s story, while complimentary vials of the new amber-infused composition allowed attendees to take a piece of the experience home.
Jack Coulter’s art and the sensorial installation
Central to the installation was a commissioned project by artist Jack Coulter, whose synaesthesia offers a unique interpretation of scent through visual forms. Coulter created abstract artworks that captured the essence of the fragrance, transforming both the Shoreditch Tab Centre and Aesop Shoreditch store façade into a luminous, otherworldly experience. Each visitor also received a limited-edition digital print by Coulter, bridging the worlds of art and perfume.
The pop-up allowed guests to encounter the fragrance not only as a scent but as a narrative and artistic experience, highlighting Aesop’s commitment to experimentation and multi-sensory storytelling.
A celestial amber journey
Above Us, Steorra was designed to evoke the sensation of gazing at a shooting star, blending citrusy spices with warm amber, Frankincense, Labdanum, and Vanilla Bean. Inspired by both poetry and the visual texture of Aesop stores, the scent creates a luminous trail in its wearers’ presence, mirroring the ethereal environment of the installation.
This sensorial installation in Shoreditch exemplifies how immersive pop-up events can transform a fragrance launch into a multi-sensory exploration of story, art, and olfactory craft, leaving attendees with a lasting impression of Aesop’s celestial new creation.
