Nestled amid the bustling streets of Brooklyn, where the power of prose and rhythm are united, the Brooklyn Public Library has displayed The Book of HOV. An exhibition chronicles the chapters of Jay-Z’s illustrious career, presenting the creative spirit of the rap icon. HOV, the first nickname chosen by the rapper in 1993, symbolises the beginning of the first chapter in his career.
Curated by Roc Nation, The Book of HOV became one of the largest in-house exhibitions placed in the 350,000-square-foot space. The façade of the main branch of the library is decorated with lyrics extracted from the rapper’s songs. The exhibition allows visitors to witness the evolution of an artist who has had a huge impact on the industry. The exploration reveals hidden facets, moving between shelves of tapes, CDs, and vinyl alongside exclusive awards and legendary objects from JAY-Z’s personal archive, such as the guitar the rapper played at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival.
The exhibition will run until October 2023. For more information, visit The Book of HOV website.
