During the 2024 Venice Biennale, a retrospective entitled The Prince of Goldsmiths, Rediscovering the Classics will showcase the rich history of the Buccellati jewelry house in Venice. Created by Balich Wonder Studio and curated by Alba Cappellieri, the exhibition will showcase Buccellati’s jewellery and silverware at Oficine 800 on the Giudecca Canal, presenting designs from different decades.
The creative director of Balich Wonder Studio, Claudio Sbragion, explains that the title of the exhibition, The Prince of Goldsmiths, is inspired by the words of the Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio. It reflects the long link between Buccellati and Italian history since the company was founded in 1919. The exhibition highlights the brand’s timeless goldsmithing artistry, inspired by classical Italian architecture, painting, and sculpture. Divided into four parts, the exhibition explores the generations of the Buccellati family, silver and gold accessories, iconic silver designs, and jewelry. Venice is the perfect setting for the retrospective, symbolizing timeless beauty and artistic excellence, much like Buccellati’s creations.
