Secrist | Beach presents Making Time, a thought-provoking exhibition curated by artist Stephen Eichhorn, from June 14th to August 17th, 2024. The project invites visitors to rethink reality by exploring themes of change, causality and identity.
Making Time features seventeen artists working in a variety of media, each exploring the concept of time from a unique perspective. The artworks incorporate organic materials such as flowers, wood, fibre and clay, offering insights into how objects exist within and interact with the temporal dimension. Featured artists include Stephen Eichhorn, who also presents a solo exhibition, VOIDGROUND, at 1801 W. Hubbard St., Sarah Bedford, Kristoffer McAfee and Sterling Ruby, among others.
Themes of ownership, transcendence and perception are woven throughout Making Time, with artists using metaphor and symbolism to examine human intervention’s positive and negative effects in our ecosystem. The exhibition encourages viewers to slow down and appreciate the intricate microcosms that make up our world.
Don’t miss our interview with one of the artists in this exhibition – Sterling Ruby – to find out more about his art.
