Yoko Ono’s FLY project will be showcased in Berlin as part of the n.b.k. Billboard series during Berlin Art Week. As part of this series, two of Ono’s works will be displayed consecutively in public spaces, allowing both Berliners and visitors to engage with her iconic and thought-provoking artistry.
The concept behind FLY centers on liberation and empowerment, encouraging audiences to interpret the word “fly” both literally and metaphorically. Through its minimalist messaging, the project invites active participation and prompts reflection on themes of freedom, peace, and the power of thought.
Yoko Ono’s multidisciplinary practice spans music, film, poetry, and performance, often utilizing simple instructions or scores to engage the public. Her art places a strong emphasis on participation, driven by her belief in the transformative potential of language and action.
The FLY project will run from September 11th, 2024, to February 23rd, 2025, with a second work debuting in March 2025, coinciding with her retrospective at Gropius Bau in April 2025.
