Damien Hirst presents The Light That Shines, a major exhibition at Château La Coste in France that spans the 500-acre estate and fills all five pavilions by architects Renzo Piano, Oscar Niemeyer and Richard Rogers. The exhibition includes never-before-seen works and Hirst’s iconic series, as well as around 90 sculptures and paintings.
Hirst’s extensive body of work explores beauty, religion, science, life and death. In particular, pieces from his Natural History series, preserved in formaldehyde, will be on display. In addition, he is unveiling The Empress Paintings, which for the first time showcases red and black butterfly wings arranged in captivating patterns. Visitors will be able to discover the Cosmos paintings and sculptures from the Meteorites and Satellites series. These are inspired by deep sky images from the Hubble Space Telescope.
The exhibition runs until 23 June 2024. For more information, visit the Château La Coste website.
