An Atlas of Es Devlin

An Atlas of Es Devlin

An Atlas of Es Devlin is the first monographic museum exhibition dedicated to British artist Es Devlin, renowned for his transformative work that captivates audiences. From intimate theatres in 1995 to kinetic stage designs at prestigious venues such as the National Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera, Devlin’s journey extends to large-scale installations at global institutions including the World Expo, Lincoln Center and the United Nations headquarters. Her narrative weaving spans from sculptures for Olympic ceremonies to NFL Super Bowl halftime shows and tours with Beyoncé, The Weeknd and U2, with a recent adaptation of her craft to address environmental and societal challenges. Public installations exploring endangered species and languages inspire audiences to reconsider connections and leave a lasting impact on perspectives.

Thames & Hudson, UK, in collaboration with Cooper Hewitt and curated by Andrea Lipps, presents An Atlas of Es Devlin. This distinctive, sculptural volume of over 900 pages incorporates folds, cut-outs and a range of paper types, mirrors and translucencies. With over 700 full-color images spanning 120 projects from four decades, the book is accompanied by 50,000 words of text, including Es Devlin’s personal commentary on each work.
