El Affaire Miu Miu, directed by Argentinean filmmaker Laura Citarella, premiered on August 31st as part of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series at the Giornate degli Autori of the Venice Film Festival. This 28th instalment in the series presents a unique blend of fashion and mystery, following the story of an Italian model who disappears during a fashion shoot in the Argentinean Pampas. As the city’s detectives search for clues in the Miu Miu clothes and the surrounding landscape, the film masterfully combines fashion with the supernatural. El Affaire Miu Miu continues Citarella’s exploration of women seeking adventure and challenges traditional narratives by integrating Miu Miu’s style into the story.
The film is now available on Miu Miu’s digital channels and worldwide on MUBI from September 27th, 2024. Following the premiere, Miu Miu hosted a panel discussion at the Venice Film Festival with directors Laura Citarella and Tan Chui Mui and actors Marisa Abela, Cailee Spaeny and Alia Shawkat. The discussions, moderated by Penny Jane Martin, explored the intersection of fashion, storytelling and the craft of acting, offering deeper insights into the creative process behind El Affaire Miu Miu and the wider Miu Miu Women’s Tales series.
